About Me

“When you arise in the morning think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love…”

Marcus Aurelius

Who Am I?

My name is Hunter Darr. If our paths have crossed, you may know me as the coffee-making hippy. Perhaps, as the individual who sparked a thoughtful conversation in class. I come from a small town in Oregon. There I attended a small school, played a variety of sports, and made friends who are now strangers. Back then, I aspired to become a scientist, then a chiropractor, and later a teacher, engineer, and once again, a teacher. Ultimately, I found myself studying Philosophy at Western Oregon University. However, my life was forever changed when the pandemic struck in 2020. I struggled with dropping out of school, strained relationships with my family, and the end of a romantic relationship. Despite countless nights spent in the depths of despair, I realized that I needed to rediscover how to love life

“In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%, according to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization (WHO) today. “

What Is The Love of Life About?

With my experiences, personal philosophy, and travels, I strive to delve into my past, evaluate the present, and ponder the future. I aspire to attain a profound understanding of what it means to truly cherish life and achieve authentic happiness.

“Associate with people who are likely to improve you”

Seneca

Why Write The Love of Life?

I am writing this blog because I understand that many people, like myself, have experienced obstacles in life. Likely, they have caused them to lose their passion for living. Through my own experiences and philosophical teachings, I have reignited my love for life, strengthened my relationships, and gained an appreciation for life. My hope is that by sharing my knowledge, others who may be struggling will also be able to find their way back to this same place of joy and fulfillment. Maybe you too can find a Love of Life.

“Caretake this moment. Immerse yourself in its particulars. Respond to this person, this challenge, this deed. Quit evasions. Stop giving yourself needless trouble. It is time to really live; to fully inhabit the situation you happen to be in now.”
